Post 14: Part 6 Morocco – The Blue City

The Blue City, a refuge spot for Muslims during the Reconquista, A city of weed: Chefchaoun – A beautiful city in the mountains where the structures are blue. Walking the in the streets was amazing, seeing all the cats, people and food was different. The city center had very interesting performers and people. Our friend group wanted to do hookah, so we asked a few locals on where to go but they kept thinking we were saying Vodka. Which I personally thought was wild as they were so willingly ready to serve me alcohol in a country that has it banned. At night we went to go listen to songs by Moroccan Sufis and personally the first song was amazing, especially on a spiritual level. At home I occasionally read a book about the Shamil (characteristics) of the Prophet, and I try to replicate those actions. Each song was lengthy, but I recorded at least two minutes and I have been occasionally listening to it as I love it. Listening to music that is sending blessing to the prophets for his actions of being a giver to his people actually gives Muslims good deeds. We are to love the prophet for giving us Islam and pray for him and this is a form of it. The rest of my experience on this trip was very eventful, I was also able to visit and eat at a restaurant of a Moroccan man who lived in Japan for twenty years before coming back to Morocco. In Japan he studied herbal medicine and brought his trade back to his city. I was heavily intrigued by this but unfortunately, we were not able to talk to him as we essentially had to dine and dash. To conclude this day, we ended it by eating Escargot (snails) which was not very appetizing. We went back to the hotel exhausted and had to rest up before our journey the next day.
